Drop in one PDF or a whole shelf. Book Helper scans the document and filename for an ISBN, checks trusted library sources, and gives you a clean record to review before anything changes.

Find the book

Look up title, authors, publisher, year, and ISBN through Open Library, Google Books, and the Library of Congress.

Clean the file

Review the title first, then rename the PDF without rewriting or recompressing its contents.

Send to Zotero

Create a Zotero book item and attach the local PDF through Zotero’s connector on your Mac.

02Installation

From download
to library.

Open the disk image
Download and double-click BookHelper-v1.0-beta1-macOS-arm64.dmg.

Move Book Helper to Applications
Drag Book Helper.app onto the Applications folder, then open it normally.

Open Zotero and add PDFs
Drop PDFs into Book Helper. Zotero is only required when you choose Import to Zotero.
